St. John Neumann, CSsR, is known for his work in establishing a Catholic School System in the Northeastern area of the U.S.A. He ministered to a mostly immigrant population and spoke several languages. John Neumann worked endlessly in bringing God's love to millions. 1811 John Neumann was born in Bohemia and in 1836 sailed to the U.S. 1836 He was ordained a priest of New York and became a Redemptorist in 1842 1848 he became an American citizen; 1852 Bishop Neumann became Fourth Bishop of Philadelphia 1860 St. John died and was later canonized a saint by Pope Paul VI in 1977
